Michael Anderson and Dr. Timothy Johanson believe parents today need to rethink how they do parenting. They believe too much time and energy is spent on strategies that don’t work. For example, parents need to stop lecturing and shaming their children. They need to give consequences, not warnings. Instead of stepping into every situation as a parent, they should allow their children to problem solve and learn from life consequences. When they do step in, parents need to focus on just two behaviours/requirements at a time. A huge list of areas a child needs to improve is overwhelming to them.
